Device for Algae Harvesting

With the growing interest in algae cultivation and its diverse applications across industries, there arose a need for an innovative device to efficiently and hygienically separate algae from water, given their solubility. As a solution, a specialized device was developed to extract various nano-sized Spirulina algae from water.

Operational Mechanism of the Device

The algae solution and water enter the device from one end, where a micron mesh screen encircles the cylinder, allowing for the separation of algae from the liquid. Water is discharged from the base of the device, while the algae, detached through the cylinder’s rotation, are collected by a paddle and guided into an output tray, effectively exiting the system. The cylinder rotates continuously, enabling uninterrupted algae harvesting without the need for manual operation.

Specifications and Features of the Algae Harvester

As the algae solution and cultivation medium flow into the device from one side, the internal mechanism employs a micron mesh screen around a cylinder for effective separation. Water is expelled from beneath, and the algae, thanks to the rotating cylinder, are scraped off the mesh by a blade, funneled into an output tray, and removed from the device. This design ensures a continuous harvesting process without manual assistance.
